WhatWeWillDo

Page history last edited by Robert Scoble 17 years, 8 months ago

Here's the proposed schedule. Let me know what you'd like (you can edit this page, and enter your suggestions in here).

Saturday, August 5th. Robert Scoble will arrive but we'll be at a party in Bozeman and won't get to the house until midnight or so.

Sunday, August 6th. We'll just hang out around the house and get everyone situated. Maybe take a trip to Chico Hot Springs to go swimming. Drop by the house and say hi and let us know where you're staying.

Monday, August 7th. Visit Yellowstone (west and middle part). Stop in Mammoth Hot Springs (we'll get on the road at 10 a.m., stop by there at about 10:30/10:45 -- if you're staying in Mammoth, don't come down to the house, we'll just meet you at the lodge in Mammoth at 10:30), Norris Geyser Basin, and get to Yellowstone Valley. That's about three hours of traveling each way, so along with a stop for snacks and meals, we'll probably leave at 10 a.m. and be back at 7 p.m. or so. In the evening, catch dinner on the way back at Mammoth Hot Springs then hang out.

Tuesday, August 8th. Visit Yellowstone (south and east part). Yellowstone Lake. Old Faithful. And a bunch of other sites and hikes (is everyone up for short hikes -- of an hour or less?) Maybe go swimming in Boiling River if warm enough and everyone is up to it. We'll leave my mom's house at 10 a.m. and meet at Mammoth Hot Springs Lodge at 10:45.

Wednesday, August 9th. Livingston and Bozeman Montana. Visit Livingston's museum, rail fans can take pictures, and we might head over to Bozeman (there are a couple of great museums there for the kids). We'll leave my mom's house at 10 a.m.

Thursday, August 10th. We'll be leaving in the early morning, probably at 8 a.m. -- we'll need to clean the house before leaving.

Anyone have any suggestions for what we should do? Yellowstone I think is a given. Once we get a list of things to do down, maybe we can start a new page for transportation for each event. SO we all know who is going where, and how.

++++++++++++

Notes from other campers:

Hoping my two tires hold up, Rob Lagesse should arrive on the fifth as well :). I think the fifth is just a day to gather - I don't think we can really plan much until the sixth or seventh.

(from Megan Cunningham): I anticipate having a car the whole time, if there's parking at the house. (Robert, is that an issue?) Also, not sure if this is the right place for this but while we're on the subject of transportation if anyone is arriving on Sunday, I will be driving from Bozeman airport to the house and will be happy to take a few people if you're in and around the airport at noon on the 6th.

(from Don Fornes): I live over in the next Valley - Gallatin Valley - in the town of Big Sky. I'll only be in Emigrant on Sunday, but if the Group wants to see this area (very dramatic canyon with Doug Firs and steep ravines) I'd be happy to help plan. Also, if anyone is up for fishing the Yellowstone (Robert's Pardise Valley) I'd be willing to plan something and/or split a guide (and yes, I'd come over there another day for that experience).
